Water Treatment Plants

Water treatment describes a process used to make water more acceptable for a desired end-use. These uses include: Drinking Water, Industrial process, medical and others. The goal of all water treatment process is to remove existing contaminants in the water, improving it for subsequent use.

There are several different processes our water undergoes from the time it enters the plant to the time it is transported through the extensive distribution system of water mains to our homes and businesses. The goal may be to allow treated water to discharge into the natural environment without adverse ecological impact. These processes may be physical such as settling, chemical such as disinfection or coagulation, or biological such as lagoons, slow sand filtration or activated sludge. Water is also chlorinated in the plant and then pumped to various reservoirs.
